It’d make me explicably happy if people stopped treading round the edges of the no politics rule

I'd say being under a canopy of trees or hearing my kids laugh. Also, sitting on a beach looking out at the wondrous ocean.

Also, it might sound bad, but I truly love when I see Karma in action. Makes me giggle.

Diet Coke in a can. I've been in Japan for two weeks and found ONE place - a vending machine in Akihabara that actually sells it (well, Coke Zero) in a can. Otherwise it's all 500ml bottles. Now I'm back and I can finally get the only thing I missed again.

Apologies, it was late night and I couldn't help myself. Don't mean to make your job harder than it is.

Maybe not entirely inexplicable, more hard to translate.

Having finished 1984 on Spotify, I looked for whatever books might be available. Most require purchase, but did find a series recently done on Irish radio (RTE 1), Drama on 1, Beckett Season. In reverse order, the podcast (?) eventually arrived at episode 1 and "Watt", performed by Barry McGovern. Given its geographic specs, it may not be available outside this side of Western Europe, which is a pity because it is such a culmination of voice, actor and writing that is mind blowing. Like a perfect musical arrangement, so much so that, having reached the end, I went back to the start and, having reached the end again, went back to the start again. And when I reach the end again...

If anyone is 1. interested and 2. finds it, I'd be interested to hear views.

So ... I recently had a concert to perform in, and one of the pieces I had to memorise was the classic Neapolitan song, "Funiculi, Funicula". (I think it was the second time I performed that one).

It's a fun song, so this morning -- for no reason at all -- I decided to write my own words ... which made me happy. ;)

    VERSE:
The kids are asking me what I am baking,
So I say "Wait; it is first-rate."
My hubby says, "What is it you are making?"
It's on the plate; it won't be late.

    I'm frying mushrooms, fricasseeing garlic,
    it's very good - it's understood.
It's even loved by all the folks of Harlech,
and Robin Hood - him from Sherwood ...

    CHORUS:
    Chicken, chicken,
    in the grill for lunch!
    Chicken, chicken,
    masticate and munch!

    It's chicken here
    and chicken there
    and chicken bloody everywhere!

    Yummy yummy yum,
it's chicken wings and roasted spuds!

So it's silly and not especially deep, but who cares ... =P
