Hello all, My name is Rosaline and I am an amateur writer who loves writing a variety of genres including, romance, mystery, thriller, and poetry. Although I love writing, I can never seem to gain the confidence to post anything for people to read. My hopes are that I can gain this confidence and improve my storytelling. Other hobbies I enjoy are nature, collecting rare plants, crochet, art, and music.
Hi Rosaline, welcome to the board! Hope you enjoy your stay here, and please, by all means, we'd love to see some of your writing.
Please look at the workshop forum, and post some of your work there. You will get some good feedback there.
^ But only after making the required two critques on other people's work. That's necessary each time you want to post something to the workshop.
That is good to know, I really appreciate both of your suggestions! Thank you so very much for helping me out!
You will find most of the members here will support and encourage you. If something sucks, we will tell you that, and why. Then bombard you with suggestions on how to fix the problems. The best advice I can give you, is send your ego into the other room to binge something on Netflix, before you read the critiques.
Hello and welcome Rosaline, looking forward to seeing you in the forums! You've come to the right place for resources, support and encouragement.
Thank you very much! I am still learning my way around the website, but I am enjoying reading everyone's work and getting feedback myself!
Oh, dear! I seem to have missed you, Rosaline. My apologies. Welcome a-board. Yes, w. bogart is correct -- but I'm sure that if we have to criticise something, we wouldn't simply say "This sucks" (which is obviously mean and unhelpful). Don't worry! We'll probably say something like "This part makes no sense to me, because of [reason]. Would it be better to..." and then give our reasons. Welcome again! I look forward to 'seeing' you around the board.
