Hello. I'm a 27-year old female who primarily writes High Fantasy Drama and secondarily Adventure, but has works written or planned in just about every genre there is. I love to challenge myself and, I think, have a higher opinion about my writing than I should. I have written several 70k+ word novels and am currently struggling to decide how I want to share them (self-publish, traditional, or freely?), and with whom. (Edit: Oh, because this is something I took an interest to long ago: the gender of my protagonists across all stories are split evenly. Ironically, I prefer writing male characters.)
Hi! nice to meet you. I'm a french 43-year old Mum. It doesn't sound like much, and it isn't - but I'm there anyway, because I have something to say to the world. And I will.
Go read up on what J.K. Rowling was before she hit it big: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J._K._Rowling#Marriage,_divorce,_and_single_parenthood
I'm a American 15 year old male living in Indiana. I usually write stories about history, action, Japanese culture, Korean culture, Indian culture, Middle Eastern culture, politics and drama. I rarely write stories about science fiction and fantasy.
I'm 27, just really started writing a few months ago - had this story running through my head for a bit so I thought I would give it a go! Looking to post sections on the workshop area for feedback so look out for it! (when I get the privileges..)
I'm a 18 year old who writes fantasy. However, I become nervous while I write and therefore it takes me forever to finish anything, probably my perfectionism I suppose. I want to eventually publish whatever story/novel I do finish eventually.
As I see our new and old staff have been busy This thread has been around a long time, but I think it'd be beneficial for everyone to get to know our members by a short introduction. Currently there's no other thread where new members can look up our population, so I'll start. I'm on the best part of being mid-aged, been writing since I registered to this board on a whim, because I was bored. That's right, folks. I just was bored. Saw a writing prompt, wrote a 80k dark fantasy story to wet my appetite and make a lot of newbie-mistakes, and once that was done embarked on my current project, a story in the genre of military contemporary fiction, and yes it's quite a jump in genres I'm writing because I want to read the story I've ever wanted to read but no one penned. I love every moment of the ride it's giving me.
I'm what is unoffically known as an 'old fart.' I will be 70 years old at the end of June, this year. However, as an old owl, I've been learning new tricks, including how to be a Mod on a Writers's Forum. I have only written one novel thus far, Brothers, but it is finished and in the process of being formatted for self-publication. (A complicated process. Being an old fart is NOT an asset with this part of the writing game.) I read lots of different kinds of books, but I am only interested in writing historically-set novels. My preferred period setting is late 19th century USA/Canada. That period of social history is almost within living memory for me, in that I used to know people who were born and raised pre-1900. I found a lot of what they told me about their early lives extremely interesting. When I was a child I read tons of books set during that period, so I guess I just naturally gravitated there when I finally decided to write rather than just think up stories in my head. However, it took modern technology to get me started ...my first wordprocessing programme, ClarisWorks, on my first Mac computer (Performa), back in 1994. I use Pages on Mojave/Mac Mini desktop these days, so I have a foot in modern times as well. I was born in Michigan, and lived there until I turned 37. Then I moved to Scotland and got married. Still married to the same guy, still in Scotland. This is my forever home now.
Hi all, not sure I've introduced myself so will do so now. I'm Neil, a 41 year old hypnotherapist and ex Project Manager.. At least, I think I'm 41, I stopped counting birthdays a few years ago. I've died twice, and hope not to again for a long time. I've been writing for years, dabbling in fantasy, comedy and travelogues but never enjoyed the copious re-writing so quit most efforts once the creative part was gone. My drive for writing is now stronger than ever because I need to tell my story, hence I'm writing a memoir. It's incredibly challenging, frustrating and liberating in equal measure, but I'll damn sure get there!
I'm not quite as old as jan I'm in my mid forties, ex forces, ex bar security, ex tree surgeon and ex a bunch of other stuff... in my day job I'm a beach officer for the local council (no it's nothing like baywatch)... now also a moderator here. I write action adventure/thriller with ocassional dabblement into scifi and fantasy - I have seven books (self) published - the dusty miller series.. Blood Tide, Honest Intent, Darkest Storm, Border Crossing, Mr Atkins , and two stand alones Alphadog and Rapax... i have a bunch of other in the pipeline.
I'm an 18, (yes 18, stfu,) Year old male and I'll be honest. I suck at writing. That is the reason I sought this forum out. I've written some fan-fictions when I was 12, and tried for some more serious writing at 16, but it was all literal garbage. So I've created this account on this forum hoping that someone can tell me what I'm doing wrong. Now I'm trying harder then ever to get out something decent. I'm starting on a science-fiction comic, (I figured the same priceables would apply,) about a group of space mercenaries. I have no plot. Or background. Or much of anything really. You can see how hopeless I am. None the less, I will try. And that is who I am... I also really like coffee, if you must know.
Just be glad you can actually do it. You don't want to know about what I've written. All my stories have been deleted, and that's the way it should be. I love fantasy, by the way. It's the easiest to just say, "This works because I said so," in. Like, it's a world with magic, elves, dwarves, and orcs, and you're complaining about how the winged people couldn't really fly without a wingspan of 80 feet? stfu and read the book, man.
I'm a 31 year old child. I write mainly fiction(mostly epic fantasy) and poetry. I'm a public adminstration and foreign languages major with no real formal writing training so i'll be devouring everything i find here hoping to get better. Nice to meet you all.
I am a father of 3. I started to write 2 years ago as I got the opportunity. I have done mostly short stories as the way forward to improve (Guides, review and fake news on a online game forum). But I finally decided to write a YA novella where the MC is a boy, and the supporting character is a girl.
African American female, 25, from the USA who likes to dabble. I write whatever comes to mind. I like writing sci-fi and fantasy. Not high fantasy and hard science fiction, but I like world building. My short fiction and poetry tend to be surreal, I guess? They take place in real enough settings, in real enough scenarios, but there is an element of surrealism about it.
I am a thirty-something plus extras individual in her late forties mainly appealing to the sixty plus windbag generation, w/ an affinity w/ young people in particular, pet-owners, creeps suffering crises of the every variety type going forward. Lovers say I write with my tongue in words painted on heels a lifetime, and I am broad-minded re genre tastes on foot. Give me a foot I'll show you a sock I used to say until I discovered sandals. That's mainly the professional background, folks, keen to expand in personal realms/lit/craft-time on my potty, all best dudes.
Hello everyone! I do illustrations for stories. My name is Keith and I live in The Netherlands. I have my illustrations on my own website but I can not promote them here due to rules. However, if you search for 'Tolk Talks Illustrations' in Google you will find me.
OFF TOPIC That's almost double compared to my morning coffee mug! (In Finland average is five mugs per day. I think three of the Cave Troll mugs would be enough!)
