Hello everyone, Seems to be both the correct and polite thing to introduce oneself. New here, just got signed up a few days back. Was a bit of a problem with my registration email being sent, but someone took care of that for me. As I don't at this time know who that was, I shall say thank you here until I can thank that person properly. I've joined because I love to write. I like to think that I have a fair hand at it, alas my opinion may be biased I'm afraid. I'm looking forward to posting some of my stuff and joining in some the RPG's. First, however, I would more than welcome any tips anyone might wish to offer on how this site works. I've read the rules and "newbie packet" but usually the best way to learn the rules of place is to observe your peers in that place. One last thing, my spelling is horrible. I use the spell checker on firefox and I look over my stuff throughly. Unfortunately, there is always something, or quite of few somethings, that get away from me. I apologize in advance for my lack of spelling and pledge to do my best to keep it under control.
I'm a good person to see if you're interested in the RPG forum. I'm on a lot, and can help as much as humanly possible if you need. In my sig - Oasis Productions Welcome
Hello Trevelyan, Welcome to the Writing Forums. Posting your own work should not be the very first thing you do here. It is really worthwhile to see what other people have done to improve their writing, and see if some of it applies to your writing as well. That is part of why we require members to review other members' work before posting their own. If you haven't explored the site yet, you should probably do so soon. Newcomers often gravitate to the Lounge, the Word Games, or the Review Room, but there is much more to be discovered if you poke in the corners. Remember to check out our FAQ as well, and be sure to read through the forum rules, too, to avoid any misunderstandings or hurt feelings. Respect for one another is our principal mandate. As for the Review Room, new joiners often wonder why we do things a bit differently on this site than on other writing sites. We emphasize reviewing as a critical writing skill. Training your eye by reviewing other people's work helps you improve your own writing even before you present it for others to see. Therefore, we ask members to review other people's writing before posting work of their own. The Review Room forums on this site, therefore, are true workshops, not just a bulletin board for displaying your work (and on that note, please only post each item for review in one Review Room forum). See this post, Why Write Reviews Before Posting My Work? for more information. Enjoy your stay here, and have fun!
Hello Trevelyan, welcome to the forums Don't worry too much about your spelling, at least if you're checking it as thoroughly as you can, you're making an effort
