Hello. I was thinking of buying a book and I found one version that I really like, but then I saw on Amazon that some people complained about the translation. This is the book: http://www.abebooks.co.uk/Arabian-Nights-Burton-Richard-Sir-Canterbury/15518011062/bd My question is, do you maybe know if this translation is really not that good? Do you know of any better versions? I'd like to read one that is as true aspossible to the original, and is not too difficult to read. Also, I tried looking on the internet for the quality of Canterbury Classics, bit couldn't find anything, are the books of a good quality? Thank you.
It's not that it's not good, but it's often critiqued for it's antiquated language and...graphic descriptions. However, it's definitely the most complete translation. By Canterbuy Classics, do you mean Canterbury Tales?
This website has several translations that you can compare. I've never had any experience with Canterbury Classics, so I can't comment on the quality. Also, is the edition in your link the complete version? Based on the page count, it looks like an abridged version, but I could be wrong.
