how can i get rid of the avatars in the thread menu?

i tried all the options in the 'preferences' area but none of them got the old icons back that show if we've already posted in a thread... this is a major pain for me... the instructions in the preference area are confusing... it says 'this will' get the old icons back, but doesn't show or specify what 'this' refers to, as it's below the choices... and as i said above, none of the choices effected a change...

 

I believe the threads that you've posted in will have a pair of glasses to the right of thread name, since posting in a thread automatically adds it to your watch list. However, I too kind of miss the old way where it used your avatar instead.

The "Show Thread Icons" option just seems to change the avatar of the thread starter when you're looking at the threads in the list. Having it checked gives all the threads a generic mail icon and having it unchecked lets you see the avatar of the thread starter.

 

i don't want to see the avatars, just the old mail icon with a check mark for each thread i've posted in...
i got the icons back, but the checkmarks don't show for all of the threads where i've posted... hopefully it's just a glitch that will be corrected... thanks for replying...

 

My avatar still shows up in the threads I posted in.

 

Weird, I see them now under the Suggestions forum, but any thread in the workshop that I posted in doesn't have it. I guess it only applies to threads created after the update.

 

I just tested it. I think the glasses show if you posted before the upgrade and the avatar if you post now.

The default is off. Is that what you were looking for?
