Hello! My name is Emily Kevil and I'm a 21 year old aspiring writer and artist from California. I'm so excited to have found what seems to be a very active online writing community! I'm spending a bit of time at home before I move back to my college city (where I'm a writing/literature major) and I don't have much of a writing community here. It's always great to talk to other writers, so I'm happy to be here to talk with you all, read your work, and share some of my own. I write poetry and fiction, mostly. I love to read and I think I draw from reading almost as much as from life experience when I write, at least stylistically. I love magical realism type stuff, like Gabriel Garcia Marquez. Some of my author favorite authors are Junot Diaz (The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao is one of my favorite books), Jeffery Eugenides, Haruki Murakami, F. Scott Fitzgerald, John Steinbeck, Pablo Neruda, Virginia Woolf, Sylvia Plath, and, well, the list goes on. I'm also into art and find that painting/drawing can kind of influence writing and vice versa.. I think it's an interesting creative process to combine them. I love all art, really, and love seeing it, reading about it, and talking about it in general. Looking forward to meeting you all.
