Hey everyone! I've been an avid writer/reader for years and as college junior that just transferred over from my school's accredited Nursing program to its small, but credible English department, I wanted to get back into writing/reviewing/and the basics of of general writing; I'm a bit rusty after two years of studying Anatomy and nursing terms instead of doing what I've always wanted-writing. I love reading/writing poetry, dramas, and love stories; what do you expect of someone whose favorite author is Nicholas Sparks? haha. I have an unusual writing style however-I can go from a comedic plot to a dramatic one, and someday I hope to be famous for that. You never know . I love reviewing and proofreading, so if you ever have a question about a piece and need someone to read it, don't be afraid to ask! Hope to hear back from everyone via thread or personal message! Thanks!
Welcome to the forums. I'm guessing you got your name from Finding Forrester? Damn good movie. I hope you enjoy your stay, the people here are really helpful.
Hiya, and welcome. I think if you stick around you'll learn a lot here and your skills can come in handy. Hope to see ya 'round!
Hello DTJW, Welcome to the Writing Forums. Posting your own work should not be the very first thing you do here. It is really worthwhile to see what other people have done to improve their writing, and see if some of it applies to your writing as well. That is part of why we require members to review other members' work before posting their own for review. On the other hand, there are no restrictions, other than content and copyright rules, on showcasing your work in your member blog. If you haven't explored the site yet, you should probably do so soon. Newcomers often gravitate to the Lounge, the Word Games, or the Review Room, but there is much more to be discovered if you poke in the corners. Remember to check out our FAQ as well, and be sure to read through the forum rules, too, to avoid any misunderstandings or hurt feelings. Respect for one another is our principal mandate. As for the Review Room, new joiners often wonder why we do things a bit differently on this site than on other writing sites. We emphasize reviewing as a critical writing skill. Training your eye by reviewing other people's work helps you improve your own writing even before you present it for others to see. Therefore, we ask members to review other people's writing before posting work of their own. The Review Room forums on this site, therefore, are true workshops, not just a bulletin board for displaying your work (and on that note, please only post each item for review in one Review Room forum). See this post, Why Write Reviews Before Posting My Work? for more information. Enjoy your stay here, and have fun!
Actually, no, I've never seen it! haha. I just always say that myself, so now I kind of feel bad about quoting a movie...crap, ha
Welcome DTJW. I'm fairly new myself but finding a lot of wonderful friends in which to discuss writing. I've learned so much already. BTW, I like NS too along with thousands of other writers and nearly all genres. Hope to discuss more with you soon.
