I usually love to RP as characters different from me.

 

Yeah me too, and part of the reason I chose to play a woman character. The other reason of course being, that it was obvious more men than women would be on board for this RPG. Just a little balance.

 

A little. This RPG is probably going to turn into a sausage fest at the rate its going.

 

Yeah, I was expecting that and hoping someone might follow suit with myself haha.

I must say I'm a bit surprised at the rate of people turning up, I was afraid of it being a stillborn project

now there's more stuff going on than I can shake a stick at, did all this stuff happen overnight???

Just so that you guys know, I'm reading all the character descriptions and storing them in a special players' folder on my desktop.

The point of meeting at the Aerospace port was to meet up and leave for orbit. It's looking like that's gonna happen today because guys are getting restless and we have enough to begin.

 

Sounds good, and yeah a lot happened randomly. I guess I was happy to wake up at five-thirty this morning haha.

 

Just so you know, I updated my character's background, just added a little more.

Hey Jon, how do the Warrant Officer ranks work? Are they awarded on special occasion or are they part of the normal enlisted rank structure?

 

Lebby: actually, you guys are all supposed to be starting out as Midshipmen, remember that you just came from training and all.

I don't wanna give any one player more rank than another because it's unfair, but don't worry, you will pick up rank and hopefully even commanding a ship of your own before you know it.

Mingo: you are very welcome, I'm working on all this stuff at the same time so just give me some time and pretty soon the whole game universe will be fleshed out even more for ya.

Headroller: The Warrant Officer ranks are very strange. All Warrant officers are prior enlisted Non-comissioned officers and staff non-comissioned officers who go to a special warrant officer program. They are technically officers but did not go to Officers' school like a comissioned officer would. Usually warrant officers are middle aged and older men, they are very rare, and typically specialists in their respective fields because tey've been in the service for forever.


edit: I love the way that the characters are developing so far, all the players have their own little quirks and stuff and you guys are all roleplaying it so well. I can tell that a few of you are getting impatient though so I'll be stepping it up tonight. Instead of waiting for everybody to roleplay responding to a muster call we'll just leave tonight for the space station and get it to a nice pausing point (we'll all have time to catch up, no worries). Some of us appear to be in different time zones and I think I was asleep when a few mischievous midshipmen were out picking pockets

OH YAY! PUNISHMENT IS GREAT! Still not sure why I want Carter to cop it... I think its coz hes the culmination of all my worst aspects with a couple of the good ones thrown in to keep him likeableish.

The La Grange Space Stations

In the early twenty first century, before the United Earth, a collaboration of nations made an international effort to establish permanent settlements on the Moon. Using the Moon as a base of operations with adequate resources, several different projects were achieved. The spacecraft that sent the first manned crew to Mars (the Capricorn) was built in space using Lunar resources, as well as a number of space stations that proved vital to early endeavors in the inner solar system.

One of the major undertakings was the construction of the La Grange space stations. At the La Grange point between the Earth and the Sun (L1) commercial companies saw enterprising opportunities in building a number of space hotels, space condos, and the like. The military also saw potential in establishing battle stations at the L2 La Grange point between the Earth/Moon system and Mars, but because of international law there were prohibitions against military installations in space. After the formation of United Earth and the United Earth Armed Forces the first military La Grange space stations was built. One station eventually became the headquarters for the UEAF, L2 Olympus.

The La Grange stations are small cities in space, supporting populations of a quarter of a million people and entire aerospace fleets at a time. In addition to being the headquarters of the UEAF the Olympus is also the official headquarters of the Sol fleet (the solar system's dedicated fleet).

 

we're just in the port, spaceage equivalent of an airline gate. the Lt. and Pappy both went to the ship I think.

I'm glad you liked the post Mingo.

We're leaving the aerospace port now and essentially blasting off from Earth to a titanic space station. We can just roleplay everything leading up to the LT's ass chewing, the blastoff, the trip to the space station, arriving there, whatever. This should give everyone time to play catch up and me time to develop some more of the universe and scipt our next encounters.

edit: thanks Headroller! Well yeah, Pappy and the LT are boarding, I just don't wanna force your characters to board too because they're your characters and I don't want to play puppetmaster with them. I would like it if you followed too, let's just say that we're leaving now
