I don't drink wine at all due to a medical problem but I sometimes cheat on the general alcohol ban by having a Guinness or Bulmers, one can every six weeks is about the max I can handle without passing out.
I'm sure there are a couple of wine aficionados on the board... I'm not one of them I quite like the process of wine making, and have been involved in it at various stages, I just have no taste, or tolerance, for the final product (beer drinker through and through, when I do drink). Last time I went grape picking it was purely to earn enough cash for concert tickets, and it was an incredibly hot day, so by the end of it I was flaked out in the back seat of my friends car. if I drink wine it's most likely to get the same result.
I like grossly sweet wines.. that is all I know. I had this raspberry, sweet however sharp tasting South African wine on New Years Eve which I liked.. Yeah, can't say much else besides that, I r not a big drinkerz.
I usually cook with it rather than drink it. But occasionally I like a glass of dry Sherry or a dry red like a Bordeaux or Cabernet Sauvignon.
in my old, pre-teetotalling years, i always kept a stock on hand of my favorite white [chas krug's chenin blanc ] and red [ beaune's nouveau beaujolais...only available in november and must be drunk within a year, to be at its best]...
I don't drink it. I like beer. I have avoided trying to develop a taste for wine since it's more expensive anyways.
I like wine. I never used too, but since i met the misses many years ag o(shes a big wine and cheese person) i have come to develope a taste for such. I will only drink Red though, unless its a very very nice white. (I used to get drunk on white as a young teen, so white....yeah)
Haha my fiance won't drink wine anymore because in high school he and some friends decided to beer-bong wine. Not the best idea they ever had...
I prefer red over white. My favourite back when I was at school was a cheap red called dancing bull that had a nice little bite to it.
I don't like fancy wines like red or white wines. I like the cheapo fruit flavored wines you can buy at the grocery store for about $5 a bottle. Then again, I also like fruit flavored beer. ~Lynn
I used to be a beer drinker but quit in favor of a more comfortable setting. I go camping and sometimes I will have a coors light but only one or two. Now, I drink wine because my sister got me into the tasting of it. I bought some recently it's Merlot and a 94 whatever that means..I guess it is suppose to be better the older it gets but I am not so sure of that though. LOL.
My brother is big into wines. I enjoy a nice red, but would not call my self a wine-guy. Chianti is my typical vineard.
My favorite is an Hungarian red called Egri Bikavér or bull's blood. I also deeply enjoy my beaujolais nouveau.
I really really really want to like wine. But I don't. Eh, maybe someday I'll develop a taste for it. The only bottle I've ever bought myself was a Riesling. And I only bought it because the bottle was shaped like a cat.
I don't drink any more except very rarely. used to be little old wine drinker me. the wines I like now are the ice wines from Niagara. nice and sweet.
Niagara on the Lake. Ontario Canada. Niagara Falls. The wine is so sweet and the weather though winter is still mild enough to go out and pick the grapes. Dom says when he takes his inlaws out for dinner he always orders ice wine as it is expensive enough to impress but not so expensive to have him eating the equivilant of kraft dinner (in china) for a month.
I prefer the Bordeaux style wines myself. Some of the new varietals coming out of Spain are really good, but over priced. The monverde grape wines out of Chile are very good, as this is an heirloom grape. The California pinot noirs are very good, but got overpriced in the 90s. Also, once you have a Barbarossa from Italy, you will always remember that delicious variety.
