Trying to think of a name for a princess. Something elf- or faerie-esque. I've got a few I'm toying with but I thought I'd see if you guys had some ideas.
i suppose it depends on the culture. i assume this is a fantasy work, but is there a particular culture your story is based on, like french or italian or irish, etc? if your princess is some kind of fae, you may want to look at flowers or other natural things for name inspiration, such as hyacinth, tourmaline or fritillaria.
Remember that her parents didn't look at her in the crib and say, "We want her to be spoiled. That's our fondest hope for her. What name would communicate that?" What did her parents think? That should be what drives the name.
Marguerite... or some spin on that name sounds suitable. Illythia, or Serena Just a few names off the top of my head. Names in books really need to sort of forward the personality. No one would like to read about a total bitch named Sophie.
Depends on your association with the name. I've yet to meet a Sophie who wasn't a bitch so that is completely acceptable to me, lol! I associate Celtic and Welsh names with fairy-types but their pronunciations are complicated for those unfamiliar.
I always loved Calla - from The Gummi Bears - Princess Calla Lily. Or you could pick some rare flower and spin it off into a name - like Queen Anne's Lace - Annilace.
Try combining two short names. "Trixie" and "Belle" becomes "Trixabelle". "Rose" and "Veronica" can become "Rosanica".
Wander over to seventhsanctum and get 50-100 ideas. Or if you want something more fantasy use their greek name generator.
Well, if her parents are the kind to spoil her, then they might want her to have a special/precious name: something that represents uniqueness or value-- Orchid Eclipse Eternity Sapphire (Saph for short)
Persephone Evangelique Ophira Pomelina Aisha (EYE-ee-sha) Analia Obelia Roxana Natania Titania Naja Nala Musetta
Or just make up a name that calls to mind an irritating word. Glitabelle. Snippanie Prudella. Frumia.
