The year is 2042. The current state of earth is that of a collapsing technological empire. Just as technology and the thirst for knowledge began blooming so long ago, it is now invoking on itself a demise so incredible that both the past, present, and future become involved within the dilemma. It all started in an isolated research laboratory [2015] located on Chincoteague Island and it began as something sought as an aid to humanity. The vaccine was supposed to cure a new strain of virus [v009332], nick-named the albino tuatara project. It was simple... create a vaccine to kill the virus before said virus mutated in something much larger. Years went by with little progress on the project and the scientists began trying new techniques such as testing on newborn children with the consent of both parental units. This would give them an advantage for they already knew the vaccine was most effective in an environment containing a strong immune system. The vaccine, otherwise known as atproj009332, allied with the biological army and easily wiped out any remnants of the virus and thus proved Dr. Geofrey's theory. Going into detail further on v009332, it was agreed by the governments of nearly every nation on earth that they would fund research for an additive to the human genome. The environmental shift within the atmosphere of a growing industrial economy called for stronger lungs which could easily succumb to the filthy air that killed so many within the growing years. Wearing gas masks would no longer inconvenience the billions of people inhabiting the earth.
Well, it sounds interesting... but many plots do. Before Cogito explains, it doesn't matters what the plot is, as long as its well written, the dialogue and characters are believable and, well... you get the idea. I have a recommendation though. Why do you name the virus with such confusing names? They sound like computer viruses. Biological viruses have other names, like ebola, flu and chickenpox. Well, hope I've helped.
As promised: A story concept means nothing. I can tell you now, it has been done before. What matters is how you write it, the characterization, the flow, the imagery, all of it. There's no point to asking what other people think of the concept! They'll either say,"Sounds great," or, "it sounds like a ripoff of..." If the idea stirs you, write it. Then ask people what they think of the final story. After they tell you what they don't like about it, revise it, usually several times, until you're happy with it or until you throw up your hands and say the hell with it. Cogito's fairly valid points aside, this idea is way too incoherent. The way you have presented it makes it impossible to tell what happens when, and you have left out enough important background that it's hard to make any intelligent comments. A few questions to help clarify: Has the virus infected anyone? What is the death rate? What is so scary that scientists are spending years trying to create a vaccine? Who is Dr. Geoffrey, and what is his theory? What are they adding to the human genome and why?
