Normally, this is the sort of thread I make the second I get to a forum and set up my profile but I forgot that this time and kind of jumped right into the thick of things. Generally, I expect the intro-forum to be on the top but being at the bottom, I sort of just passed it by. Regardless, the name was originally going to be spaced out properly but that would have meant "Crematory" would been turned into "Cremator". I'm a heavy metal fan from the blisteringly frozen wastes of the Canadian North, known to most in particular as "Toronto". I've aspirations to write, in particular, morbid and gritty stories about far off conflicts, black operations, adventures across recovering post-post-apocalyptic worlds, and strange dooms summoned by unknown, shapeless forces of the occult and the esoteric. I've mostly done highbrow pretentious forum RPing to hone my skills but as time passed and as I read more books, I've decided I'm "not quite there yet." This site seems like it'll be handy in helping to get me to said "there". I've seen it a few times in the past but thought "meh, don't need their help lol". Of course, I've changed my douchebag condescending ways and bear no such sentiment now. I've only really started writing in 2010 but I have no plans to stop anytime soon trying to give form ideas that in some way, shape, or form, have been brewing in my brain ever since the mid 90's. I'm hoping to get along with everyone here, spread the transcendent conquering power of heavy metal, and hone my proverbial novel-writing sword for the days when it shall be unleashed upon the slumbering world. ... Oh and I can speak Canadian French too.
Hi ScreamsfromtheCrematory! Welcome to the forum That's one hell of a name; it took me three goes to get that right, lol. You'll never conquer me with heavy metal music, can't stand the stuff sorry. I'm sure you'll learn a lot hanging around this place, there are some incredibly insightful people here. Canadian French sounds cool. One of my favourite shows was Canadian, I'm sure you've heard of Corner Gas. Unfortunately I can't get the whole series on DVD in Australia Oh and I can speak Australian English
Welcome to Writing Forums, ScreamsfromtheCrematory! I hope you find what you're looking for here, whatever your interests in writing. This forum aims to provide the best workshopping resources on the internet, and to that end we have a few rules which you should familiarise yourself with before you get stuck in. The main section of the site is the Writing Workshop, where members can post their writing in order to receive critique of their work. However, before we allow members to post their work, they must have met some basic requirments. Firstly, you must have been a member for fourteen days, and have made twenty posts on the forum overall (please note, posts in Word Games do not count towards this). This is so that members, when they post their work, have familiarised themselves with the forums and contributed to them (as well as hopefully learned something for themselves). Secondly, members must provide two constructive reviews of other people's work for each piece of their own that they wish to post. This is because we believe that the focus of workshopping should be equally upon giving reviews as receiving them, as they allow a writer to practice and improve their editing skills, which they can then apply to their own writing. Beyond the Writing Workshop, you will find that we have extensive forums for discussion of aspects of writing, as well as a community area for general discussion. We also run periodic short story and poetry contests, which are good for challenging yourself and expanding your skills. If you have any questions or problems, then the moderators (myself and Cogito) should be your first port of call. Any technical problems with the site itself should be directed to Daniel, the site administrator and owner. I would recommend you have a look over the rules so that you know what to expect, and what is expected. But aside from that, I hope you enjoy your time here. Banzai
