I've looked around and not seen something like this, nor am I sure if this is something that is allowed. However, I think it would be useful to many of us who are self-publishing and trying to work out whether or not the cover we bought/had made suits our work or even looks good to others. What does everyone think?
Sounds like a good idea. The later pages of this thread turned into something similar: https://www.writingforums.org/threads/cover-art.165778/page-4
I like the idea. It could turn into advertising for books quickly however, if there were not some rules put in place. But at this early hour, and not enough coffee in me, I am not sure what those parameters would be.
Oh wow. I hadn't even realized (or have forgotten) that thread was even there! Even so, I wonder if adding something to the critique section with clearly laid out rules in the first post would be beneficial? IE, only pre-publishing covers. If they allow people to post their covers in the self-publishing section, then that already is a form of advertising in and of itself, so I'm not sure it would make a difference if something similar thing existed in a purely critique-oriented thread for pre-publishing covers. Thoughts? Opinions?
From a staff point of view there is no problem with posting covers for critique in the self publishing board*... its probably better to have one thread per cover though, rather than a single thread with lots of covers on it which could get confusing. additional rules arent really needed because we already have a site rule that says no advertising ... posting a picture of your book cover does not breach this rule, but linking to your book on a sales site would do. *note that it should be in the self publishing board under publishing, not in the workshop.
maybe in the fullness of time... only Daniel can set up new sub fora and he has a bunch of other stuff to do... in the meantime just put them in the self publishing forum
