I'm looking for a slur or an insult that'd describe a person who appears over-zealous about her job. More specifically, it's a situation where a cop arrests a suspect and has just handcuffed her. She wrenches the suspect along with quite a bit of force, and the suspect calls her out on that. The accusation would sound something like this: "Watch it, ____ ! You almost dislocated my shoulder there!" The suspect is also supposed to be a bit of an annoying brat there. Suggestions? I haven't managed to come up with anything that'd fit that context ._. Thanks in advance!
Hehe, that'd be pretty funny, I guess. Thanks. I'd like to avoid references to our pop-culture if at all possible, but at this point I'm open for any and all suggestions!
You could also take the sarcastic route, in that your character would call the cop something completely opposite.
Hehee. "Aren't you a gentle little princess?" Or something to that effect? ETA: @stevesh Jackbooted? Never heard of that!
That's a good suggestion, but I suppose here I'm going more for bratty than downright nasty. The suspect is kind of worried she'll get tased if she gives too much attitude, but at the same time, resents the situation and wants to show it through some jibe at the cop, who, to her, sounds really young (she can't see the cop's face 'cause she's wearing a full helmet... Yeaah, this is sci-fi).
Someone (I think it might have been National Rifle Association president Wayne LaPierre) once famously referred to certain federal law enforcement officers as 'jackbooted government thugs' (a Nazi reference). It kind of became a meme.
use a personal insult, pig, donut whore, point 5-0, the worst "ginger" , what is it with red hair cops?
Ted Nugent, actually. And he said it about the raid on Gibson Guitars over allegations that they had smuggled Indian wood into the country. Edited to Add: Oh, looks like I was wrong, it was LaPierre, but way back in 1995. It promted (then) President H. W. Bush to burn his NRA card and LaPierre apologized.
Thanks for your suggestions, everyone. @peachalulu I love She-Ra (well, the show was crap), but maybe that's a too old reference. At this point I might actually go with the sarcastic quip as it seems to fit the character the best.
In the good ol UK we call that kind of person a 'jobsworth'. I think 'drone' would fit in there too though.
Haha, that's great. The cop in question is unusually tall and musclebound for a woman so it'd fit! Thanks!
