hi, i've been watching the message boards for a while, but my account wasn't activated until recently due to some of what i am considering to be technical difficulties. It just feels good to be able to write things now instead of just reading them and getting angry every time i can't reply or post. Anyway my name is Andrew. I have been writing for about four years now seriously, and while i don't have any published work, i do keep a journal, a blog, and i write countless emails and comments to people. I like writing a lot on my life and how i observe the world around me. I like to give advice and point out questions in life and try and work answers out for them. Some of my writing is serious, other times it's pretty light hearted. My life has seen many up and down times, and i can tolerate a lot of different opinions. I have seen the good and bad side of people and i try to understand why things are the way they are with everyone. I might not hit the nail on the head all of the time, but i believe everyone has a reason for what they do, and that nobody is ever right all of the time. Anyway whether it is about the paranormal, personal problems, family problems, love, science, philosophy, religion, medicine or history, i like to write and reflect on it. Many times a movie or a quote can inspire me to go off on a big rant, so just be warned. I do get fired up easily. I'm just hoping on this site i can meet some people to share ideas with and get to know as friends over time. Thanks for having me. Andrew
Hello Andrew, Welcome to the Writing Forums. Posting your own work should not be the very first thing you do here. It is really worthwhile to see what other people have done to improve their writing, and see if some of it applies to your writing as well. That is part of why we require members to review other members' work before posting their own for review. On the other hand, there are no restrictions, other than content and copyright rules, on showcasing your work in your member blog. If you haven't explored the site yet, you should probably do so soon. Newcomers often gravitate to the Lounge, the Word Games, or the Review Room, but there is much more to be discovered if you poke in the corners. Remember to check out our FAQ as well, and be sure to read through the forum rules, too, to avoid any misunderstandings or hurt feelings. Respect for one another is our principal mandate. As for the Review Room, new joiners often wonder why we do things a bit differently on this site than on other writing sites. We emphasize reviewing as a critical writing skill. Training your eye by reviewing other people's work helps you improve your own writing even before you present it for others to see. Therefore, we ask members to review other people's writing before posting work of their own. The Review Room forums on this site, therefore, are true workshops, not just a bulletin board for displaying your work (and on that note, please only post each item for review in one Review Room forum). See this post, Why Write Reviews Before Posting My Work? for more information. Enjoy your stay here, and have fun!
Hi Andrew! I do relate with a lot of what you say about being inspired to write easily. I get it from life, music, etc. Anyway, hope to see ya 'round!
Hi Andrew! I'm new here as well and have found it warm, welcoming and inspiring. :0) I hope you find the same! ~Salinye
