Hi all! My name is Kenny, and I'm a 51 year old out gay man who after many long years of toil now has a Hollywood franchise - of movies, tv, play, and other things - in development with a certain Oscar-winning boomer writer/director and his producing/life partner. (Think: the live action musical adaptation of a classic story from eight years ago.) I studied writing at Sarah Lawrence College back in the 90s (Marie Howe for poetry, and the now sadly late Randall Kenan for fiction - the NY Times reporter/CNN person Maggie Haberman was in that class) , but grew up in and around the business (my late father was a network exec and I was a small time child actor you've never heard of) and always wanted to make it as a screenwriter. My saga is basically my own life cycle, real and fictional, as a serially abused former child actor who along with other former child actors - playing ourselves by name - is also a clandestine agent for a secret global elite - we're real life superheroes, basically. (And I was going to be...a Very Serious writer [ha!].) The first thing will probably be out later next year. Am here just to meet people, find a little connection, and talk about writing. Nice to meet you all!
Just for fun...here's one of my college-era poems, written for the class with Marie Howe, and published in the Sarah Lawrence Review (I think this was 96): [deleted by mod]
