    Heissan :)

    Who are you?

Who? Who is but the form following the function of what and what I am is a maiden in a mask.
But on this most auspicious of nights, permit me then, in lieu of the more commonplace soubriquet, to suggest the character of this dramatis persona.
    VoilĂ !
I am the one who you do not see. Or you do, but what you do not see, is that what you see is but an unwittingly created mask. You may see a young woman, a 'rather pretty case', who has brown hair, pale skin and deep blue eyes. But under this, is a faerie. A vampyre, succubus, elf, witch, queen! Goddess.
    Right under your blind eyes.
I am a thought, a shadow. I am magic, love and passion.
But that only few do notice.

However, let me simply add that it's my very good honor to meet you and you may call me lumivalko.

    - parts from V's introduction to Evey from V for Vendetta, edited to fit me.

I am a Finnish girl currently residing in Ireland as an au pair.
I don't really have actual hobbies other from seasonal reading, drawing and playing RPG's.
My character is quite a trouble to describe, but three words I have been described with are 'imaginative', 'talkative' and 'creative'.
I myself may like most the two-word description sum of opposites or possibly the even shorter description fantasticist.
You can learn all there is to know about me in a week, and yet after years I can still surprise you is also one of my favourites.

    I look into a mirror.
On me is a startling dress, like blood and fireflames. My hair is curled and on both sides of my head is flowers blazing the deep colour of bronze. Now I look beautiful.
I step up the stairs and take the place of the vampyre behind the partition. Only moments, and it is my turn. I breath deep. For this short moment, for some seconds, I am a faerie. I am beautiful, miraculous, full of magic. For once, be it allowed for me.
The vampyre leaves the stage. Soon she is no more a vampire, merely an ordinary girl.
But this is my moment. I peek to the stage from behind the curtain. I look shy, also slightly curious. I step to the stage, two steps, stop.
My moment. I smile. I tread to the end of the end of the stage, blow a flying kiss to to the whole audience. For this moment I am theirs and they are mine. I turn around, walk away, but right before I disappear behind the curtain I turn to blow one more flying kiss. Only one.
That went well, I think ablaze and skip down the stairs.
    But my moment is over.

    - the best memory in my life so far.

I've always been a rather imaginative person, I've been drawing since I could hold a pen in my hand and writing for fun since I was twelve. My dreams have always been colourful and I've written some of them into short stories.

Anyhow, I've got two fantasy stories that I've been planning on, the other a new acquaintance, the other I've been planning on for two years now. The latter one I'm unsure if I'll never be able to finish it, as the story has grown as circles in the water, but the previous is inspiring me and I don't think it will be too big for me to finish.

I also write poetry, which is dark and haunting for most part.

    Who am I?

the dark depths of the ocean
    need fire
    wild fire
    burning
    freezing
    chaos
    what no one must see
    who am I?
    naudr
    isa
    kaen
    isa

For some reason I manage to offend people rather often, so if you are reading this and later get offended by something I say, remember that it's probably just a misunderstanding. I try not to intentionally offend people.

Hello Lumi, Welcome to the Writing Forums.

Please read How to Use the Review Room before you post there. Posting your own writing for people to comment on should not be among the very first things you do here. It is worth taking the time to see what other people have done to improve their writing, and see if some of it applies to your writing as well. That is part of why we require members to review other members' work before posting their own for review. On the other hand, there are no restrictions, other than content and copyright rules, on showcasing your work in your member blog.

Also, be aware that posting a piece of writing on any public site, including this one, will greatly diminish your chances of selling it for publication. Removing the writing later does not alter that fact - once posted, it is irreversibly considered published. So do not post anything more than a small excerpt of any piece you are planning to submit for publication.

If you haven't explored the site yet, you should probably do so soon. Newcomers often gravitate to the Lounge, the Word Games, or the Review Room, but there is much more to be discovered if you poke in the corners. Remember to check out our FAQ as well, and be sure to read through the forum rules, too, to avoid any misunderstandings or hurt feelings. Respect for one another is our principal mandate.

As for the Review Room, new joiners often wonder why we do things a bit differently on this site than on other writing sites. We emphasize constructive critique as a vital writing skill. Training your eye by reviewing other people's work helps you improve your own writing even before you present it for others to see. Therefore, we ask members to review other people's writing before posting work of their own. The Review Room forums on this site, therefore, are true workshops, not just a bulletin board for displaying your work (and on that note, please only post each item for review in one Review Room forum). Also, please use the same thread for all revisions and additional excerpts from the same piece of writing. See this post, Why Write Reviews Before Posting My Work? for more information.

And while you're looking around, don't forget to check out the RPG forum for improvisational fiction. Also try our Weekly Short Story Contest and Weekly Poetry Contest. They actually run more than one week apiece, but any member may enter, and all members are urged to vote for their favorites.

Enjoy your stay here, and have fun!
