Hello Im New here my name is kevin im 17 years old i have always loved writing even though my spelling and grammer and all that has never been great but its never stoped me writing.when i was little i mostly wrote short storys that involved my favorite actor at that time Arnold Schwarzenegger.My mum said they were great but thats mums for you lol. In school my teacher noticed my tallent when she asked the class to write a short story about anything we wont. I wrote a story about me and 4 of my freinds playing hide and seek in my house and i went to hide in a cupboard and that cupboard end up being a time machine and i ended up back in school in 1945.and i found my mates there but they had diffrent names and we ended up having to sign up for the army. I cant remeber it fully but it was pretty good for my age my teacher told me to print it out and the whole class ended up reading it
Hello Kevin, Welcome to the Writing Forums. As far as spelling and grammar are concerned, the best way I know is to write every sentence as if it is going to a publisher. Keep a dictionary handy, and use it; it can be a printed dictionary, or a web link to a site like Dictionary.com. I use both online and print dictionaries all the time. Before long, most errors will look wrong to you as soon as you type them. If you haven't explored the site yet, you should probably do so soon. Newcomers often gravitate to the Lounge, the Word Games, or the Review Room, but there is much more to be discovered if you poke in the corners. Remember to check out our FAQ as well! As for the Review Room, new joiners often wonder why we do things a bit differently on this site than on other writing sites. We emphasize reviewing as a critical writing skill. Training your eye by reviewing other people's work helps you improve your own writing even before you present it for others to see. Therefore, we ask members to review other people's writing before posting work of their own. The Review Room forums on this site, therefore, are true workshops, not just a bulletin board for displaying your work (and on that note, please only post each item for review in one Review Room forum).
