Hello, my name is Nisa and I'm an italian girl, nice to meet you. I'm here because I like write stories and I dream to publish many books a day. But another reason about my presence here is that I would improve my English and I think that using English for a funny thing is the best way to improve it! I'm sorry for my bad English. I hope to improve and to have new friends. Thank you!
Ciao Nisa, and welcome to the forum! We have plenty of English as a Foreign Language speakers around here, myself included, so you'll fit right in. Please check out our New Member Guide for starters. Have fun! -Kat
Buon giorno, Nisa, e benvenuto. And I daresay your English is far better than my Italian. In fact, it is better than many native English speakers I have encountered. Have fun!
Unfortunately Italians on the whole speak English poorly, compared most other European countries. It will be a challenge to improve your English to a high standard whilst living in Italy. Its not all bad news however - as a non-native speaker once you get your proficiency up to a fluent standard you will be able to express yourself more freely on paper than a native would, because you will not be so well acquainted with the stock speech we fall back upon when 'lost for words'. Also, English is a composite language; it has origins in Germanic language, but over the centuries it has become corrupted with Latin. I suggest that you favour words with Germanic roots over the Latin ones - your English will sound more timeless and bright. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Germanic_and_Latinate_equivalents_in_English
