Thirty-something writer, focusing on romantic comedy and contemporary fiction, seeking website with friendly, supportive, fun people. I enjoy hiking and the outdoors, tinkering on a novel that must be finished by next year (for the writer's conference in NY), cooking, learning new things, watching movies, and word games. Combative people who argue for the sake of arguing need not apply.
Ciao Bella, Welcome to the Writing Forums. Hopefully this is the sort of place you were seeking. We demand respect toward other members. We encourage healthy debate, but not arguing or baiting. If you haven't explored the site yet, you should probably do so soon. Newcomers often gravitate to the Lounge, the Word Games, or the Review Room, but there is much more to be discovered if you poke in the corners. Remember to check out our FAQ as well! As for the Review Room, new joiners often wonder why we do things a bit differently on this site than on other writing sites. We emphasize reviewing as a critical writing skill. Training your eye by reviewing other people's work helps you improve your own writing even before you present it for others to see. Therefore, we ask members to review other people's writing before posting work of their own. The Review Room forums on this site, therefore, are true workshops, not just a bulletin board for displaying your work (and on that note, please only post each item for review in one Review Room forum). See this post, Why Write Reviews Before Posting My Work? for more information. Enjoy your stay here, and have fun!
Oh, we got that . Isle 7 right next to the flat screens. We don't do much hiking and the cooking around here isn't too good. The movie theatre closded last week after... a freak hat accident (I REGRET NOTHING!)... Word Game as go in the Games department and we do have lots of novel tinkering in the foyer. Not too many of those here... except for that hobo outside my bedroom window but he's more of a mean drunk than an arguer.
LOL. Thanks, guys. It's a fun place already. Thanks for the welcome, and I'll do my best to avoid the drunken bum outside.
Don't worry about bob. He only drinks on Friday nights and as long as you don't say the following words He'll laugh even when your not telling a joke. Words and phrases not to say around the WF.org Hobo: Clinton, Bush, Washington, CIA, Conspiracy Theory, Warrant, Law and Order, television, wire tap, spying, Russian, Communism, Marx, Marks, Germany, Goths, emo, and kids. Yeah. Those words set him off like chili .
Actually, we don't even really know his name. We only call him Bob because of the way his head oscillates up and down as he stares vacantly and belches.
