Hello hello! I'm Ali'ikai and I'm a fantasy writer. I tend to write about things close to me, normally basing things off of my heritage(which is admittedly a mess. I'm 1/2 Pakistani, 1/4 Hawai'ian Polynesian and 1/4 Japanese but I was raised in Poland and most of my family lives in Egypt). Uhhh I've been writing for 10 years and I'm mostly trying to get better at English...as I'm only a B2 right now. I guess that's all really?
That heritage is incredibly interesting. I'm excited to hear what you have to say on various topics here seeing as your cultural perspectives seem rather worldly. Welcome!
Welcome to the forums Ali'Ilkai. I hope you have a great time here and you continue to enjoy your writing.
Welcome aboard Ali (if I may call you that). Hope you eventually ascend and become a resident ghost like me, where you can never leave because some unknown, unfinished business keeps you tied here, and you haunt these forums much to the chagrin of everybody else who just wish you'd stop wailing in the night, flicking the lights on and off in existential crisis, and scrawling incomprehensible gibberish on the walls. Your English is rock solid my dude! Keep up the good work. I wouldn't have known from reading this if you hadn't mentioned it. I promise it won't get easier as you get older; from somebody trying to learn pre-school level Japanese at the age of 22, which is bringing me great dishonor. It sounds like you've been exposed to many different languages already in your life, and research suggests that will help you in learning languages. Psychologically speaking, it's probable that less of your brain's connections have been pruned in regards to language, because you have been more consistently exposed to a wider range of sounds than what exists in any one language alone. That's why, if my understanding is correct, individuals who are raised in multi-lingual households are at a greater advantage for learning additional languages, and being just as competent. Take that with a grain of salt—I'm just a layman!—but please feel encouraged and confident in your abilities. You're doing fine. The people here can help you with English and writing in general. See you around.
Welcome, Ali'ikai! Great to have you here! Your English seems great! Even native speakers can always improve. It's a rough language haha. I am sure you'll find some great writing tips around!
Welcome Ali'ikai Nice to meet you hope you have fun and find all the help and advice you need here! I am a fantasy lover myself so I will be interested to see what stories you have to tell. I have Dyslexia and even though I'm a natvie English speaker, I still have to continually learn, and overcome this disability every day. English isn't easy, I still can't do it! Best of luck to you and enjoy your time here Lost
