Or something like that. 'Bout a year ago I had a whole bunch of Big Life Things™ that I just didn't want to talk much about but took up so many processor cycles that the only way not to was to just shut things down for a while. It's a bit better now, and while I haven't done any actual writing in ages I've had some ideas and made some progress, including ditching my MC's boring name (I was going for the Fleming-esque "less is more" name that led to "James Bond," the most boring name the author could think of) in favor of something much, much more flamboyant and over-the-top, and just having that pop into my head unleashed a whole bunch more of the character. So I'd better get writing. Oh, and if you've been here less than a year I'm Iain and I was on hiatus for a while. WIP is a comic urban fantasy but I need to get walking again for the thinking time and start writing again.
I don't know, it's got a little kink to it. Especially when connected up with some of the other names, like Pussy Galore and Octopussy. Nice to see you back!
Never thought of it that way , but he got it from a book by a bird-watcher (not that kind of bird, the other ones). But my MC is meant to be a sort of modern noir detective character, took him from Mike Schmidt to Cal. Cornelius Aloysius Lamplighter, to be more detailed. There's a name!
Not actually sure... life seems okay now though. Hot as hell these days, like high 30s C every day though. Thanks Madman!
I was in Tokyo in June and July - blastingly hot, it was already 34-35 on some days. And when it wasn't that hot, it was just throwing water down. And too many goddamn tourists.
Welcome back, Iain. Good to hear from you, and I hope life will be be such that you can visit here more often. My Forensics coach's name was Lawrence Aloysius Smith, which I always thought was classy. His Forensics students just called him Smith.
Nice to see you over here again, in addition to the Book of Fayces. Or have you given up on that space?
So glad you're back! As you were one of the first people to make me feel welcome here years ago, I hope you'll feel right at home again.
Hello, Iain. I'm not sure if I ever met you to begin with, so g'day! (Hey, better late than never...) And if I met you before you left: welcome back!
