Has anyone else experienced this? The quote option has disappeared from my 'reply' menu bar. All the other options, including the smileys, are still in place. But now I can't quote anything so it appears within a blue box any more. Just noticed this at 06.30 Greenwich time, in the UK.

Yeah, there's a spoiler flag and everything. I don't use the strikout font, but that's hidden there too.
Oh, I liked it the old way, so you could quote multiple threads and then load the quotes. It took me a while to do it, but then when I started, I really liked that feature. I'm sad to lose that. It's nice to be able to quote more than one person by just pressing the quote button.
I haven't tried it, but I think you still can. It's just that the quote icon is now hidden in the "Insert" folder. But I expect it works the same way.
While writing a message, if you hit REPLY on the posts you want to quote it will add the quotes, as I just did. Just add them as you wish and they will be dropped into the same reply box.
Yeah, but the other method means you can extract quotes from several people's posts and include them all in your 'reply' without having to delete any bits you don't want. Example: OR
Ah, I see. I still liked the load quotes option, but I guess just being able to hit reply on each message I want to quote is okay.
I think I put it badly in my earlier post. I'm not sure what you mean by 'load quotes', but nothing has changed, only the location of the 'quote' icon. It's now listed inside the 'insert' icon, (along with spoiler, code and strike-through) rather than appearing on its own in the menu bar. It still works the same way as the old 'quote' marks did. Just highlight the bits you want to appear in the blue boxes and hit the 'quote' icon. You don't need to hit 'reply' in order to quote. The new location does add one more action you need to perform, though, in that you have to open the 'insert' icon before you can access the quote facility. I'm kind of wondering—considering how often the quote facility gets used—if it might not have been a better plan to leave it on the menu bar in the first place?
If the tool bar is limited, I would chose 'quote', 'strikethrough', and 'spoiler' to be on the main bar, and move 'justification', one of the 'list' options and 'underline' to the side bar. The reason being frequency of use. As for a multi-quote option, until something else is added, you can hit reply to more than post. Once composing a reply is begun, hitting 'reply' to another post will insert the quoted post where you left the cursor. You probably knew this but maybe others didn't.
'Load quotes' was the option to mark the posts you wanted to quote as you read through them, then when you hit 'load quotes' they'd be loaded all at one time. It let you mark a post 'reply' without leaving the ones you were still reading through.
Well I don't know. I am just quoting you to try the new feature. It's nice. I did like the convenience of having the button right on the bar, but I'm well pleased with the news format.
Oh. Weird code keeps adding [/quote] no matter I've deleted it.[/QUOTE] OK, this is strange. It turned out the reply end quote wasn't visible to the board. Once I deleted the second to last end quote instead of the last one, things returned to normal.
BTW, to any and all who might care... If ever you need to show someone an example of formatting but you want the actual tags to show, not the end result of said formatting, the BBcode tag for Xenforo is plain. So of you wanted to show this: [QUOTE=Wikipedia] Stuf, stuff, stuff, and more stuff. And over here is some [b]bolded stuff[/b]. And did I mentioned we have some [i]italicized stuff too?[/i] [/QUOTE] Just wrap everything in [plain][/plain].

Code: [plain][/plain] If anyone thinks this is bad and you've not yet published wait 'til you start looking into that whole new computer realm. Some friends were recently talking about converting files to Word so they can remove every bit of formatting, then converting to .epub because it matters in Smashwords, then embed fonts before converting to .mobi, ... yadda yadda. I was completely lost at that point.
We're not in Chicago anymore, sadly. But when we lived near Wrigley Field we did have a small bit of lawn. We also had a lawn when we lived in a suburb contiguous to Chicago. Here in suburban PA we've got plenty of lawn (for us). I dread having to do anything related to formatting. I feel good about the fact that I'm at least able to use word, send it as an email attachment, and open attachments. Shockingly, this has been a problem in some writing groups I have been in. One woman didn't know how to use Word, and I just didn't understand how that was even possible, because she was younger than me, by at least 10 years, and probably closer to 15.
I actually do feel your pain. And I hate Word and frequently struggle with embedded code that I can't find or delete. I thought I was getting the hang of things in the epub realm when I started paying more attention to what Scrivener's converts files feature did. Then I listened to these people that all have published books and I was totally lost. It'll still be a few more months before I'm ready to send out query letters and that means more months before I have to self publish but I can see I'll need a new slew of software skills.
