Any other Indie Rock fans out there? I'm relatively new to the genre, but I thoroughly enjoy what I hear. My personal favorites are The Killers, The Ting Tings, The Black Keys, Bloc Party, and The Cribs. Any reccomendations/general chatter? (Please don't debate the defintion of "Indie Rock", amongst many music people it is an active debate, but I don't see any reason to debate it here.
Placebo and Arctic moneys are the only ones that come to mind. Oh and the white strips (first album) Im so trying to get into kings of Leon (I'm not sure why) Not a huge Indie fan, anymore and don't look as much as i used to (found indie more real back in the 90s)
Two very good bands I forgot to mention. I barely count the White Stripes as Indie anymore, so I guess they slipped my mind- I'm a diehard fan of them I think that Indie is really thriving right now, and I really can appreceiate 90's Indie, and I think its taken a bit of a different form now. But I still love it
I respect Indie 100% No indie, nothing new and most importantly no direction to follow. I just feel (and this is just opinion, nothing debatable ete) But music today just feels soo samey (though i do live in a box sometimes). Hopefully if it was the case, Indie will always stay strong.
Okkervil River and Arcade Fire are another two to add to your list. Basically, I'm a major fan but there are just so many different bands. Download the Indie/Rock Playlist torrents from here. They go back to early 2007 and have huge masses of great songs.
I guess you only get what exists. And i think the world is just not as inspired Arcade fire was one i was ganna mention as well 9only saw them last year)
I like Death Cab, Modest Mouse, MGMT (Do they count as indie? They've been listed as indie, so I'll just include 'em ), The Killers, Interpol, and Franz Ferdinand.
Interesting one, the definition of indie music, but agreed not one for now. For the purpose of this exercise, I'll just go with 'not likely to chart highly often'. Anyway, I am a huge fan of music as a whole, listening only (sadly I don't play) and estimate that I spend 50% of my wage on music and gigs. As such, I always look forward to this time of year as I get to draft my own personal Best Of 2008 list, which is of course highly subjective and bias. However, I can whole-heartedly recommend all the below releases. Be them 'indie' or not. I have not yet drafted an ordered list, but these are the contenders. Final placings will be out in December! The Spell is the only album I own - it's actually the only album of theirs I could find here in Australia, and I had to get it second-hand from eBay (which is saying something, as I swore off eBay a long time ago after purchases failed to arrive). I've heard a select few songs from their other albums, which appear to be a bit more hit-and-miss.
