Hi guys Its a short story, about, a girl living alone in a rotten apartment, how she got there and why we leave to the reader, she is shopping, she buys an object, she takes inspiration from the object to interior design her bad accomodation. Its a nice story but the ending is weak any ideas
What did you intend by writing the story? You say "how she got there and why, we leave to the reader". Do you know how she got there and why? If so, then you should know where you want her to go. But if all you have is a girl in a lousy apartment, buying "an object" (do we know what kind of object?) and taking inspiration from the object to re-do the apartment, not knowing what else will happen...not to hit this one too hard, but that doesn't really sound like much of a story. If, on the other hand, we knew something of how she got there and why, then the redecorating of the apartment could be something of a metaphor for her turning her life around (although probably a weak one, since spiffy lodgings are usually a "trailing indicator" of a life already turned around). But you could use the purchase of the "object" as a touchstone for her finding the determination to make her life better.
Im not an expert here, but the question I would like to ask is, who in the story is the character? Is it the girl, or is it the apartment itself? Just wondering where the evolution could be.
