I'm 19 and have wanted to be a fantasy/adventure/drama/romance writer ever since I was 10. Throughout my teen years I was distracted my video games, and the most I wrote was Harry Potter fanfiction. From 16-18 I had heaps of ideas for novels but instead focused entirely on study, got into law school and went through some rough patches. I've finally transferred from law into an English literature/history and education degree (which I'm enjoying much more!) I've been on holidays for the last few weeks, and have written about 3k words on a rough beginning of a novel I've been planning for a while. But when I compare what I've written to things like Lord of the Rings, or A Song of Ice and Fire, it makes me realise I have a long, LONG way to go. :/ That's disheartening but also exciting because I'm determined to read and write as much as I can to improve. I'm looking forward to chilling out and learning a lot on these forums!
