We've just upgraded to XF versions 1.3. While this does bring radical software changes, there are some smaller features. Some of the updates: Smilie Enhancements/Manager (backend - should we add more Smilies?) Built-in Spolier BBCode (drop-down button to the right of the image/media button) Custom BBCode Google+/Twitter Registration Moderation improvements Default multi-quote (still figuring this one out) Search resources by username Add Resource button in Publisher forum Can rate own resources If you notice anything broken or have any questions let me know.
Noticed changes with the quote functions, not an issue for me so far but I had gotten used to using the multi-quote function and it's gone. I see you are working on it. I would love more smilies. We need a big LOL, maybe a rotflmao guy, clapping, head bang into a wall and/or onto the computer, and popcorn smilies. I also like hissy fit. And perhaps others have their favorites.
In addition to the medals for the contests, I think we should have some sort of medal (or other way) to recognize members who consistently make good and thoughtful posts. There are some members here who I think are very deserving of such recognition.
Perhaps a quarterly medal or something. I know two people who definitely deserve it currently. It'd be hard to vote for one over the other.
Wreybies caught folks up with the short story contests. He will likely read this thread eventually. It makes sense but there is work involved in going back through the files. Say.... if you're interested I hear there's an opening for someone to run the poetry contest.
Yes! All the way back to #1 for each contest. I started with the Short Story Contest and I'm down to #28 (having started from #150). Each has to be done individually in order to create the individual links back to the winning writing and also give the Contest Number in the badge. Next comes the Poetry Contests.
So how do I do a quote function when referencing something offsite? Silly Wreybies, Marriage comes second...then comes a baby in a baby carriage. Haven't you ever played jump rope?
Awesome! Thanks. I've edited my post to include the numbers I won. Lots of work, so thanks for putting in the hard yards for us! and again: #211, 212, 213, 215
Wow. I'm just now looking at this and realizing there were clearly more poetry contests than I thought. I figured it would be something close to the short story contests, which are at 150....
Thank you Daniel, and thanks to all of those who keep this place running smoothly. I wish I could donate but, I'm still unemployed.
I would like a thumbs-up smilie. And it's great that we have spoiler tags now. Very much needed, methinks.
I would personally like more smiley options! I have learned how to hunt smileys down and insert them via the insert image tool, but if they were a natural part of the smiley set, that would be so much streamlined. I use the wtf smily a lot:
daniel... i'd love to see more smileys... and for some reason, the 'quote' option has been removed from the reply tool bars... can we please have it back? thanks for all you do and have done for years, to keep this the best writing site on the web... love and hugs, maia
I'm with her on all three of these thoughts. The quote option is still there, thankfully, but it now requires an extra action to access it. And it's a very popular tool. Wouldn't it be easier to just grab it from the menu bar, as before? And yes to more smileys. A laughing one in addition to the grinning one would be cool. And yes also to the thanks. I love this forum.
On the subject of Smileys, there's one that @GingerCoffee used a while back - a "munching popcorn" smiley. As I recall, she used it when two members who had been arguing with her started arguing with each other. Absolutely fractured me. And, of course, I'll add my kudos to Daniel and the mods for all the great work keeping this site going. I've learned a tremendous amount in my time here.
Here is a site I get a lot of my smilies from: http://www.smileyvault.com/thumbnails.php?album=35&page=3 If you want a smilie I can find it!
