I need another word for this

I didn't see any other place to post this, so I hope this is the right place.

This is an excerpt from a fanfiction I'm writing:

I need help with either finding another word for cut or rephrasing the bold words entirely. Or does it sound fine the way it is?

 

He reaped it like Death him self.

 

he struck it down with great vengeance and furious anger.

 

and with a victorious war cry, he.....

ripped it from its roots
crushed it into a pulp of rotting earth
tore it from the ground
hacked it away from its stem like severing a limb

 

...war cry, he tore it from the ground.

Or keep the first phrasing. Choose whatever you find quick, simple, and adequate.

 

slashed it down.

 

he devoured it with...*insert cutting weapon*

 

Honestly, I don't mind 'cut it down' at all.

Though maybe 'painstakingly sprayed it with a generic glyphosate, fretting all the while that a branded product might have been a better bet, and stood about for six days waiting for it to take effect.'

smart don't abuse adjectives and adverbs.

 

... "with great vengeance and furious anger."

 

"he mowed it down"

 

Prefer showing to telling.

 

I personal like JimFlagg's idea. He reaped it like Death him self.

Although I wouldn't use it, I liked the hummor in art's comment.
