    Hello from .com

Discussion in 'New Member Introductions' started by Naja Noir, Sep 22, 2024.

    Hiya!

I'm Naja from over yonder at .com.

I’ve been looking for a writing forum that is exactly what it claims to be, a forum for human writers. Less AI focused, less politics, more human writing focused etc... I've been lurking a while now and I think this place seems like a good fit.

I'm familiar with some of the members here, so the switch over shouldn't be as scary, I'm hoping.

About me, I like to write dystopian, fantasy, sci-fi, but I'll read any genre. Shakespeare, Stephen King, Asimov, and Murakami, are my favorite authors.

Swimming and walks in nature are my hobbies. Seated next to the ocean, is my favorite place to be.

    Pleased to be here.

Hey Naja, nice to hear from you. I popped over there for a while when this site was down (don't think I ran into you though). Welcome to our humble abode. We have cheese. :D

    Hello, Naja. Welcome.

We have interacted a little over at .com. You critiqued a story of mine, thanks. Let me know if I can return the favor.

    I'm also a fan of sci-fi.

Yay! I love cheese, pepper jack sticks are my go-to.

I don't know either, but I was there and remembered thinking you all seemed like a close knit family and were genuinely worried about getting your site back. I liked that about you all.

    Will do, thank you.

Thank you both for the warm welcome.

    Oh, hello! Glad you're here.

This site is much better in terms of AI policies. For one thing, you'll be glad to know that AI-generated posts aren't allowed. The workshop and the contests don't allow AI generated or AI assisted content either.

That said, I hope to see you in the contests! They work a little bit differently than .com's but they are still great.

Welcome! I've seen you around the LM contest threads. That's where most of my activity on .com takes place. I think you'll like it here; imo it's a more chilled out place. It's pretty rare to see anyone being rude, and I've never witnessed a pile-on. Good vibes.

Hope to see you around the contests here too! We've got flash (up to 500 words), shorts (1200-5000 words), and poetry each month.
