38c today and the men and kids were fishing by the lake. I lay under a tree trying to stay Zen despite the heat while I crafted a poem in my notebook. I looked up and the tree was my inspiration
Can someone explain to me, a painfully analog thinker, how to put photos here using an URL address? I simply copied and dropped the last one, but it came out so large.
When you're in the little box where you write you reply, look at the icons across the top. The little rectangle with a mountain and what looks like a black sun in it is for posting images. Click it and paste the URL into the dialogue box that pops up. Oh wait, if your problem is the image being too large, try using the Bing search engine to find images. They have a function where you can select from various image sizes. Ideally try to find one at about 600 x 400 or smaller for posting.
You may need to upload them first to an image hosting place. Be careful with private photos of family and such, though, you may want them somewhere secure and not on a random internet page. Then you can usually find the URL of the thing you just uploaded in the upper address bar or somewhere on the image site there could also be the option to copy link. After that, you can do what Xoic suggested with the image URL or through the Media button. I usually upload first to either Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram, then copy their links here. It doesn't always work right, as there seems to be some issues with Facebook and this sites plugin. Have not tried twitter, though. Will do that now and see what happens: And to note, if you share via Facebook or Instagram, your real name might pop up here. Just a warning. Hope this helps.
If it's a picture you uploaded yourself, you're probably going to have to re-size it and upload somewhere, then paste the URL in here. I use Flickr, which is a free image hosting site. It lets you post full-size on Flickr, and then choose how big you want it to be when you paste it in on a message board or elsewhere. If you want to do that, feel free to hit me up via PM in here and I'll talk you through it.
I mentioned having done airbrushed t-shirts on another thread. Here's one of my best: Frazetta shirt by Darkmatters, on Flickr
There's a photo I wanted to post here, but it's apparently too large. So maybe I can describe it. It's a landscape, in the center is a small farmstead, a classic faded red barn with an open space, whether a doorway or simply a hole, I can't tell, near the top. Another small red-faded shed, a whitewashed garage, a white-painted simple little one-story farmhouse, a windmill, an old chicken coop, a large cottonwood behind the barn, another tall tree just beyond the little house, a white station wagon parked between the garage and the house. Beyond the farmstead lies a long distant line of trees, behind that a pale sky. At the right side of the photo two men are striding down the hill, one tall and thin, the other shorter and stockier. Both men wear some sort of field cap. The shorter man carries a blond-headed child, who stares ahead. The farmstead is one my parents bought when dad retired in 1986, the photo is dated September of that year. Dad, the man carrying my young daughter, died ten years later, almost to the day, and the other man, his brother, my uncle, died about five years after that, so both seem to be striding into history. After dad died, mom sold the farmstead and moved back to the city. My daughter, who will turn 40 this year, is all that remains of that photo (except in memory, of course). And those memories well up so powerfully this morning. I miss all of that.

Went fishing a bit this week. Only a few strikes and no takes, but it's still early int the year. But it's nice to be over on the water again. I miss it every hiatus. This is one of my secret San Diego spots barely anyone knows about.
It's been getting sunny and warm quite frequently here, and there's no way for me to conceal this from my old kitty, Mittens. She will start screaming at me to take her out on the balcony so she can look and sniff around, and roll in the dust. Today was one of those days. She always gets what she wants, of course. Here are some pics from a couple of recent balcony adventures:
Ayia Marina Beach, and the Ayioi Theodori island from across the sea! That island is off-limits because a special Cretan breed of goats (the Kri-Kri) live there.
"Duck!" I flinched and spun around, surveying the terrain for danger. "What? Where?" "No, a giant yellow duck! Right there!"
Lol, no, it was the end of summer 2018, by January 2019 I was having issues walking. Now I'm in a wheelchair.
