you could use a pen to pick a lock .... also if they are so kind why is he chained to the wall in a filthy room
Yes, thank you! I actually chose to do this weird style just because of what you said. I wanted to try something fun! I'm not aiming to be published, I am writing this so I can share my love for the characters with others like me, and practice at the same time. That doesn't mean I won't give it all I've got (hence my obsession with getting things as polished as I can)
He writes with a sharpened piece of charcoal (medieval setting, kind of)—it wouldn't work on the lock. They are kind but they follow orders, and their lieder is a total b*tch who hates this guy and wants to make him suffer. Maybe in her own twisted way she even allowed him to keep the diary. She wants him to remember how she just slaughtered his whole family. Also, empowered abusers like to show unexpected acts of kindness (Ramsey Bolton comes to mind...)
well i'm not going to argue its your manuscript - but for me it doesn't work (not least because how would he sharpen the charcoal - and also these writings were supposed to be found on a battle field - charcoal writings would smudge in that environment)
Well yes, we could go on and on forever. Better leave this pointers for when I post the chapter in the workshop?
1/ A lieder is a German term for a singer. 2/ Nothing that Ramsey Bolton did was "kindness". He was demonstrating his total control over his victim, offering hope only in order to take it away again and emphasise just how hopeless Theon's position was.
Sorry and thank you. Leader is what I should have said. My point exactly. I was being ironic when I said that she would kindly let him keep his diary, because what she actually wants is to hurt him as much as she can (and allowing him to dwell in the loss of his family by writing it and being able to read it over and over seems to me like a nice evil thing to do.)
